Coach-in-the-Spotlight: Marceline Lindsay
Change Manager / Life Coach
Picture
Marceline Lindsay may currently be a lady of mystery in terms of being able to find out about her electronically and on social media but is definitely a person that  you will ‘know, like and trust’ once you come into contact with her.

Marceline has always been people focused since an early age. At the age of eleven she found her peers would seek her out for advice as she was known as the ‘Agony Aunt at the school.’ Her career background stems from HR and Employment law. Through this, over time, she dealt with many complex employment issues in addition to the emotions that come with them. Marceline has always been focused on wanting to add value to everyone’s lives, helping others on their journey to succeed. She has a natural passion through her positive energy and mindset for exploring options and ways forward that will be of benefit regardless if it is family members, friends or clients.

During her attendance on the Coaching Academy Foundation course, she was surprised and came to realise that her perception of advising, being forward focused and achieving positive outcomes for others was not entirely accurate in terms of a Life Coach. The course enabled her to recognise that it is through active listening, accompanying people on their journeys to explore possibilities, enabling them to construct actions and commitment to these for themselves, that they can then move forward.

Having recently trained as a Coach, Marceline has an excellent set of principled advice for readers considering this direction in the future: have an open mind; pure intentions; care about the quality you give of yourself for yourself and others; embrace and be open-minded; Coach in an environment that is right for both you and the client; recognise that clients will all come with their own personal set of values and an insight which may be different from your own and; most importantly have an upfront conversation when you first meet a new client to clarify what Coaching is and is not. This will ensure both parties have precise expectations how sessions will successfully flow.

There are three fascinating sets of influencers who have shaped Marceline into the person she is today. She has always wanted to embrace the best for herself and others. This stems from the values her parents who travelled over from Jamaica installed in her along with determination and resilience. Secondly, are people of high caliber and distinction who have shaped/are shaping our society and enabled the privileges available to us today. Examples of this include Booker T. Washington, Marcus Garvey and the Black Wall Street Community in the past, right through to Stefan James being inspirational with ‘Project Life Mastery’ today. The third great influencer for Marceline is her Husband, who knows her so well and has a talent for getting down to precisely what is needed for moving forward.

Marceline’s Husband is also what she shares as the fun fact about herself! This was a true holiday romance when they met in Ayia, Cyprus at a party resort in a club (see image above). They started dating eighteen years ago. Despite it originally being Ayia Napa long-distance relationship from the outskirts of London to Long Eaton in Nottinghamshire, the romance continued with a very happy ending.

An energiser and enabler are concise terms to describe Marceline’s characteristics. She really enjoys this transmission through her clients as they learn to become energisers themselves.
