Biography

I am a corporate and executive coach, empowering professionals, especially female lawyers, to achieve career ambitions whilst creating congruent lives.

Working as a criminal barrister for 19 years, I have enjoyed an unconventional approach to my career, with a scholarship to New Zealand, then doing voluntary work in Jamaica supporting Death Row attorneys. It was my most inspiring legal work to date, helping those facing acute injustice.

Returning to the UK to a daily diet of Rape and Serious Sexual Offences trials, left me feeling there was a lack of personal congruency between the value of work I was doing here compared to that in Jamaica. So, in 2010, I retrained, whilst still in full time practice, qualifying in 2012 as a Corporate and Executive Coach with Coaching Academy, and NLP Practitioner with NLP Academy.

Starting my own coaching business was held in abeyance as I met my husband and had a family, although the desire to coach remained.

In 2016, I came across an opportunity which offered an element of business coaching, so I spent 18months as a successful network marketer. Personal congruency was still lacking, however, and so it was that I launched Nikki Alderson Coaching.

I offer 1-1 coaching and group workshops covering 3 specific areas:
  • Career Progression – for/ at the point of promotion, for new positions/ projects & career- break returners
  • Life Balance – looking at wellness/ resilience in the workplace, & productivity/ time management
  • Confidence & Communication, including presentation skills

I have particular experience in coaching lawyers and talk the same language, given my background as a barrister. I understand the expectations of the legal profession, the challenges of retaining talented women within it, and the importance of career management to reach one’s full potential.

Qualifications

  • Corporate and Executive Coach, trained by the highly acclaimed Coaching Academy
  • Trained in the use and interpretation of Mental Toughness Questionnaire assessments (MTQ-Plus, MTQ48 and MTQ-4C)
  • NLP Practitioner, trained by John Grinder at The NLP Academy
  • Criminal Barrister of nearly 20 year

Having Nikki as a coach has supported me and helped me to progress on goals more quickly than I would have done without coaching. Nikki is a great coach and I would highly recommend her to anyone considering hiring a coach.
Amanda, Self Employed Business Owner
Absolutely brilliant workshop. Thank you, Nikki, for equipping us to move our businesses forward with great coaching tools and tips.
Rachel, Speech and Language Therapist
Through a series of very powerful sessions with Nikki, she helped me break down what I needed to do [to change career] and helped me commit to doing it. Nikki was so effective because she was entirely flexible with me, listened to what I said and adapted her Coaching accordingly. Nikki is very approachable and friendly, an excellent listener and a very kind, non-judgemental person. Excellent coaching by Nikki which was much appreciated and has been very effective even to the present day.
Laura, Solicitor
